Verse of the Year

Make me know your ways, O Lord; Teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; For You I wait all the day.

Convincing the Husband that we need a different car... Hmmm...

I'm going to start by saying that I am not altogether wanting to replace the car. Unfortunately, it might be necessary. 3 or so years ago, we bought a 2006 Taurus and it was a great deal! It only had 2,000 miles on it and was in great condition. A few months later, we found out that part of the reason it was such a great deal was that it didn't have Anti-lock brakes! Ya...

So no big deal, we'd both had cars without ABS before and can deal with that right? We're going to drive this car until the wheels fall off. Then we moved to Siberia. Where there is a ton of snow. I'm thinking that ABS, at the VERY least, may be a necessity up here. We might actually need AWD, too, but we'll see. I've talked to a few 'locals' about this and they say that unless you live way out in the country and have to drive up hill both ways to get somewhere, you can get by with Front Wheel Drive.

I went to Ford today to see if we could have ABS put on the car and their response was "no". No discussion. Just "no". Hmmmm.... So I test drove this...

This is the 2006 Ford Freestyle. And while I'd really like a new Taurus X, which is the same thing, I'll settle for the Freestyle. Plus, the one I liked only had approximately 16,000 miles on it. That's pretty good for a 2006. It was silver, but was only a front-wheel drive. I test drove the AWD. (The silver one that I like and/or we can afford didn't have enough gas in it.)

It didn't feel too bulky when I drove it. PLUS... short little me should be able to load children, among other things, into this vehicle and still have all of the room of a SUV or Mini-Van. Sweet! Now... to talk to the husband. And pray that they still have my silver Freestyle when he comes home and we get his per diem pay. And pray that this is all do-able...

Or maybe I'll pray that it just doesn't snow up here next year. Ummmm.... sure. That's what I'll pray for! No snow. That way we don't have to change cars?
