Pretty soon, there will be this guy living here... the last time I checked, we were married and stuff. :) I have so much to do before he comes, it is insane! I have this picture in my head of how I want the house to look when he comes home... and then I look around.
Short of lighting this place on fire, bulldozing it and starting over, I won't get there. Seriously... never. I just hope that the picture he has in his head of our home isn't the same as the way I want it to look. I have a feeling it doesn't. I mean, he married me. Not June Cleaver. Me. Melissa... you know.. the one that looks organized on paper, but her house right now looks like the cabinets and closets exploded? Ya... me... who does laundry, but then never actually folds it? (BTW, I couldn't find Gabriel's sleepers the other day. It was because I had FOLDED THEM AND PUT THEM IN A DRAWER!) I am also the one that will load the dishwasher, but can't do the dishes by hand and despises having to do it. (And also sometimes forgets to turn the dishwasher on!!!) I also have only ever worn pearls with a dress on our wedding day and I'm thinking that Jerry almost didn't recognize me.
Needless to say, June Cleaver, I am NOT. I just hope that Jerry remembers that. I hope he remembers that he married someone that is a little crazy. He married someone that is organized when it comes to jobs, etc., but not so much our home life. He tells me that he remembers all of this and loves me still, but he's been away from it for a while. I'm thinking that coming back into the Land of Crazy might be a shock to him.
So am I my wonderfully frazzled self lately? Of course! I mean, really, who here thinks that I'd be handling all of this with grace, dignity and lack of coffee and/or Prozac. Seriously. At my PWOC meeting, I got so distracted working things out about Jerry's homecoming in my head, that I completely couldn't give the status report on my job! One of the girls asked me if I needed help... My response... "I have plenty of people offering to help. Right now I just need to puke, re-organize and decide what to delegate." Ya... mentioning the puking part was probably not so necessary. Nice, Melissa...
But as we all know... I'll handle it. Will I do it looking like June Cleaver? No. Does my husband think that he married June Cleaver? I'm pretty sure he's figured out who he married by now. Will I get everything done? Yes. Will it be exactly the way I'd LIKE to get it done? Maybe not, but that's what life is all about. Praying through the curve balls and getting back up when one hits you between the eyes, right? ;)
Hopefully, I'll know a little more soon about Jerry's schedule and then I won't feel so frazzled. At least I know one thing... being ready for the worst will be my best defense. ;) And that's what I'm getting ready to do. As long as I have everything ready to go for every other area of my life ahead of time, then the 1 part that I can't control shouldn't be too much of a problem.
That's my plan... and I'm sticking to it... and dodging curve balls. LOL
